It appears there is a new scam hitting Jefferson County. We have received a phone call from one of your new inmate's family members, asking if there had been a bond reduction. It seems someone is checking our new inmate roster, via our website, and calling family members wanting them to pay the bond over the phone. SCAM!!!!!
For anyone who wants to bond an inmate out, they have to physically come to the Sheriff's Office and fill out the necessary paperwork, and then pay the bond amount.
If you receive a call of this nature wanting money for a bond over the phone, HANG UP and notify the Sheriff's Office. 785-863-2765
